About the book

**The instant Sunday Times bestseller** What if you tried to stop doing everything, so you could finally get round to what counts? Rejecting the futile modern obsession with 'getting everything done,' Four Thousand Weeks introduces readers to tools for constructing a meaningful life by embracing rather than denying their limitations. Drawing on the insights of both ancient and contemporary philosophers, psychologists, and spiritual teachers, Oliver Burkeman sets out to realign our relationship with time - and in doing so, to liberate us from its tyranny. Embrace your limits. Change your life. Make your four thousand weeks count. 'Life is finite. You don't have to fit everything in... Read this book and wake up to a new way of thinking and living' Emma Gannon 'Every sentence is riven with gold' Chris Evans 'Comforting, fascinating, engaging, inspiring and useful' Marian Keyes

A short but profound read that I could see myself reading again in a years time. This is not your ordinary time management book. Instead of the normal ‘tips and tricks’ book, this one seeks to make you realize that trying to manage all your works and all your tasks is a futile effort. Instead you need to come to terms with the fact that you just cant. I quite enjoyed it!

Such a good book, weaves together so many concepts (Deep Work, Stealing Fire, Happiness Project etc.) that resonate and make you question how you are choosing to live your life. The message Oliver puts across strikes a perfect balance of choosing to live your life with intentionality and purpose, without living in a life of extreme heightened adrenaline and productivity - taking the time to enjoy the simple pleasures of being around friends and family and not feeling guilty about how that time is spent.

This is really awesome advise: “We naturally tend to make decisions about our daily use of time that prioritize anxiety avoidance. James Hollace recommends asking of every significant decision in life: ‘Does this choice diminish me or enlarge me?’. The question circumvents the urge to make decisions in service of alleviating anxiety and instead helps you make contact with your deeper intentions with your time. If you’re trying to decide whether to leave a boyfriend or a job. asking ‘what would make you happiest’ will likely lure you to the most comfortable option!”
