About the book

image4.5/5.0

Turning the envelope over, his hand trembling, Harry saw a purple wax seal bearing a coat of arms; a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake surrounding a large letter 'H'. Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin! Having become classics of our time, the Harry Potter eBooks never fail to bring comfort and escapism. With their message of hope, belonging and the enduring power of truth and love, the story of the Boy Who Lived continues to delight generations of new readers.

It is just so good! 👏🏼 Really, that I can read this as a 7 year old child and again as an adult, and it still holds the same captivating energy and without lack for deep words/ tone. It shows that children's writing can be full bodied and doesn't have to be so simple an adult is bored. It's a beautiful skill to write one thing for all ages. ⭐ Every night I'm rereading these books and it is SO hard to go to sleep because I'm gripped!! 🤩 it got me good Also impressed with how many words or phrases I wasn't familiar with. Love love love the depth to this writing and this world, how it can be read simply or analysed further. And love to be reminded of what is changed for the films. Also impressed how much happens in such short a book. Kept looking at pages left thinking: how could all this happen? The writing is full and concise. 🤔 Though I do keep thinking about how Voldemort couldn't have gotten the stone without Harry being there anyway... but trying to reason that out of my mind! Except for that.. Brill. So glad I'm reading again 📚 "There are some things you can't share without ending up liking each other, and knocking out a twelve-foot mountain troll is one of them."

Obviously you need to read Harry Potter regardless of your age! This first one here is just a tester, the books will grow deeper and darker along with our characters and the storyline.

Es un excelente libro. Al inicio no me gusta como narra porque es muy infantil pero de ahí es muy buena la historia.

Kinda mid. It is the beginning of an era but JK could've really done better, is that problematic? Maybe. But it's my opinion!

A good start to an amazing series. Introduces all the main characters and allows you to define to draw your own conclusions about who to trust or not. Good for anyone aged 11+

Really enjoyed the books when I read them. Although I'm from ere when you couldn't just pick up the next one and start reading. I was reading them the day they were released and then sitting there in exasperated anxiety waiting for the next addition, with nothing but 5 channels on the TV for a distraction

This is the book that started it all and let me tell I loved it. The story was amazing. The characters were amazing. This was just an amazing book. The only problem I had with it was the first few chapters I could have done without. Everything else was awesome. Overall: 9/10

The writing in some parts was worded strangely. The story itself is pretty good. The world building is outstanding.

No matter how many times I read this book it doesn’t get old. Would 100% recommend. Even if you’ve watched the films and think you don’t need to, the books are far far better!

Will always love harry potter, although the first book isn’t necessarily my favourite. A bit over-edited i think - prefer the later longer books that rowling edited herself!
