About the book

In the land of Ingary, such things as spells, invisible cloaks, and seven-league boots were everyday things. The Witch of the Waste was another matter. After fifty years of quiet, it was rumored that the Witch was about to terrorize the country again. So when a moving black castle, blowing dark smoke from its four thin turrets, appeared on the horizon, everyone thought it was the Witch. The castle, however, belonged to Wizard Howl, who, it was said, liked to suck the souls of young girls. The Hatter sisters--Sophie, Lettie, and Martha--and all the other girls were warned not to venture into the streets alone. But that was only the beginning. In this giant jigsaw puzzle of a fantasy, people and things are never quite what they seem. Destinies are intertwined, identities exchanged, lovers confused. The Witch has placed a spell on Howl. Does the clue to breaking it lie in a famous poem? And what will happen to Sophie Hatter when she enters Howl's castle? Diana Wynne Jones's entrancing fantasy is filled with surprises at every turn, but when the final stormy duel between the Witch and the Wizard is finished, all the pieces fall magically into place.

Honestly, I read this a few months back so my memory isn’t as clear, but from what I remember it was a good book. I really like all the characters, and the relationship that grows between the characters. I would recommend this book, it was a pretty easy read and I enjoyed it :) I still need to watch the movie loll

Amazing story telling! Originally wanted to read it due to the studio Ghibli film production! So glad I did one of my favourite books! ❤️

I really loved and love the book Howl's moving castle by Diana W.J very much. Its just incredible how it was written by her. She made the story let us see how wonderful their world and made characters alive. Theres a lot of bad and also good character traits. This book gave me something special. Made me believe in something more than just a magic. Its love. And it is very different from any I have read before. This book is very cozy, warm and amazing. There's so many interesting things and moments. So, i just wanted to notice that i read that book first than the movie and i was a bit disappointed because of that so many things goes too fast. If i would watch the movie fisrt i think i woulnd get about what this story trying to tell. But i can understand that its just about 1 hour and about 30 minutes. I really likes how it was animating and everything in this movie but after book its different more than i thought.

I love the writing style. The second I bought this book, I picked it up and didn’t put jt back down unless I was forced to, till I finished it. Each character is compelling, different and interesting. Every detail of the story has a magical charm to it that it almost feels like a dream.

An enjoyable read! I love how expanded the world is compared to the movie and how much more light hearted it is. I do wish there was a more of a focus on the romance though and I felt let down by it since the movie did this well in my opinion.
