National Bestseller In April 1992 a young man from a well-to-do family hitchhiked to Alaska and walked alone into the wilderness north of Mt. McKinley. His name was Christopher Johnson McCandless. I picked this up because it’s classic and a bunch of people had rated it highly! It takes a little while to get into and for some reason I expected something different but I ended up quite enjoying it. I’m a fan of Krakauer and love his writing and quite enjoyed that he weaved his own story into the book! It’s a book of wanderlust, adventure and a youthful need for doing things different! I admire Chris for his courage to break social norms and it’s sad to think how he died! But I think he somehow still died a happy man!
