About the book

image4.3/5.0

Elizabeth Bennett is young, clever, and attractive, but she and her four sisters are in dire need of financial security in the shape of husbands. The arrival of the pleasant nice Mr. Bingley and the obscenely arrogant Mr. Darcy in the neighborhood turns all of their lives upside down in this witty drama of friendship, rivalry, enmity, and love.  Jane Austen is arguably the finest female novelist who ever lived and Pride and Prejudice is arguably the finest, and is certainly the most popular, of her novels. An undoubted classic of world literature, its profound Christian morality is all too often missed or wilfully overlooked by today's (post)modern critics. Yet Austen saw the follies and foibles of human nature, and the frictions and fidelities of family life, with an incisive eye that penetrates to the very heart of the human condition. This edition of Austen's masterpiece includes an introduction by Professor Christopher Blum and several insightful critical essays by leading Austen scholars.

One Jane Austen’s best works. Skip the 2005 film- it doesn’t do justice to the book.

I liked the characters and witty dialogue, but I found the book to be too slow-paced and I couldn’t keep my interest. I guess it wasn’t for me!

I really liked pride and prejudice in the beginning because of the 1800s style writing. But by the end I was dying and I just wanted to get the book over and done with because it's so slow

This was one of the first classic books I’ve ever read and I expected it to be difficult or stuffy. I thoroughly enjoyed this read. I loved the characters and their development over time.

This is one of my all time favorites. Elizabeth and Darcy are the original enemies to lovers trope and it never gets old.

Timeless and lovely. It's a book to reread in my mind with food humor and character development, the romance may be a little slow but so good because it developed like no other.

My favourite book since I was 12, I have reread it multiple times in different languages and I have yet to find a single flaw.

The subtle humour is still hilarious decades after being written. The enemies to lovers plot is timeless and one of the most beloved romance tropes. The book is just amazing!

I loved it very much, the suspense was killing me, like my heart was up to the ceiling and down in the next second. I’m a fantasy reader, and my standards are ,high I guess?I love that you can learn many things from it!🥰.

Jeg elsker Jame Austen og hendes samfundsrealistiske fortællinger om kærlighed og ikke lade sig kue af samfundets normer
