About the book

Fresh from a brief stay at a psych hospital, reporter Camille Preaker faces a troubling assignment: she must return to her tiny hometown to cover the unsolved murder of a preteen girl and the disappearance of another. For years, Camille has hardly spoken to her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely knows: a beautiful thirteen-year-old with an eerie grip on the town. Now, installed in her old bedroom in her family's Victorian mansion, Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims—a bit too strongly. Dogged by her own demons, she must unravel the psychological puzzle of her own past if she wants to get the story—and survive this homecoming. Unabridged Audiobook (6/10): I knew less than an hour into this book who was guilty of the murders of two girls in this rural Missouri town. To me, so much of this story DRAGS because of this. No genuine mystery, but cool insights into human emotions and actions associated with them.

Solid book, no my favorite by the author (Dark Places takes the cake their). Slow moving at first but really takes off once your engrained in the book. Character development is pretty good, suspenseful and keeps you on your toes for sure. I really like the author a ton and will continue to read all of her work.
