About the book

image4.1/5.0

The definitive story of Jeff Bezos and Amazon.com -- "It's hard to imagine a better retelling of the Amazon origin story" (New Republic). Named a Best Book of the Year by the Washington Post, Forbes, New Republic, The Economist, Bloomberg, and Gizmodo. Amazon.com's visionary founder, Jeff Bezos, wasn't content with being a bookseller. He wanted Amazon to become the everything store, offering limitless selection and seductive convenience at disruptively low prices. To do so, he developed a corporate culture of relentless ambition and secrecy that's never been cracked. Until now. Brad Stone enjoyed unprecedented access to current and former Amazon employees and Bezos family members, and his book is the first in-depth, fly-on-the-wall account of life at Amazon. The Everything Store is the book that the business world can't stop talking about, the revealing, definitive biography of the company that placed one of the first and largest bets on the Internet and forever changed the way we shop and read.

Funny, brutally honest and well-researched. The book is full of incisive insights. I saw Jeff’s recent interview and it seemed as if Jeff was reciting Brad’s points from the book! Either the book has picked up Jeff’s life very well, or it has deeply influenced Jeff himself. Either ways, it’s a testament of a well-written biography Totally binge-worthy

Loved reading about the origins and evolution of amazon, and learning more about the career of Jeff Bezos. Amazon has only gotten bigger and more dynamic since the book was written with the growth of AWS and acquisition of Whole Foods

Really interesting book about Jeff Bezos and the rise of Amazon! Especially hearing about the rise in the beginning and how much they struggled to get going with slim margins and ‘attacks’ by investors. It’s inspirational to hear about Jeff’s constant long-term vision and some of his management philosophies! With that said it felt a bit to censored potentially by Bezos himself. I was missing more reflection on mistakes or missteps and opinions from people who did not like his management style. The author seems to ‘drink the Amazon Kool-Aid’a bit much! Recommend to read it but there’s other more real and honest biographies out there!
