About the book

image4.2/5.0

From Colleen Hoover, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Ends With Us, a heart-wrenching love story that proves attraction at first sight can be messy. When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn't think it's love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her. Never ask about the past. Don’t expect a future. They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all. Hearts get infiltrated. Promises get broken. Rules get shattered. Love gets ugly.

I truly loved it. Colleen Hoover is amazing on making you feel so much while reading her books and that’s amazing. I cried a lot throughout Ugly Love. But most importantly this book made me realize that love isn’t always easy. It can be ugly. Love hurts.

I have a love/hate relationship with miles but it’s a brothers best friend to lovers, where miles (the brother’s best friend) has a really “bad past” and something happened that he can’t open up or want a future with Tate.

SPOILER!!! I love the detail of how once Miles had made closure with Rachel then he returned back to Tate the layout of the page changed with it to symbolise he had moved on and can now allow himself to fall in love with Tate.

One of my favourite CH books. You finally release why the cover makes sense once you’ve read the book. I read this book in one sitting! It had me captivated the entire way through. It wouldn’t be a CH book without a huge plot twist and boy did this book deliver!!!

spoiler alert 🚨 NOPE The reason for the three stars was because of the ending which was heartwarming BUT THE REST OF THE BOOK WHAT It was like wattpad in a book And the line ‘We laugh at how big our sons balls are” WHAT that’s a NEWBORN child Every two pages there was a smut scene. Miles was super annoying throughout the book.

this book barely scrapes decent. there is a lot of unnecessary moments where it seems like it builds up your tension for no reason. however, there was also a good plot and at times i was genially shocked by the twists. i would recommend reading as lots of others did really enjoy it, but in my view it’s not one of colleens best

I did enjoy this book however i do think that i went into reading it with really high expectations but nevertheless it was a good book. I really enjoyed the plot and the “twist” but towards the end it seemed a bit rushed to me and not only that but through out it kind of felt like it was a bit jumpy. I liked how we got chapters from both Miles and Tates perspective but truth be told reading Miles’ parts made me feel pretty uncomfortable and mad almost when he would compare Tate to Rachel. I thought the ending was cute as it revisited previous comments the characters had exchanged and it had that “lovey dovey” feeling.

✧ Review ✧ Title: Ugly Love Author: @colleenhoover Pages: 322 Genre: Romance This is an easy read and I was invested from the first page. CoHo has a great ability to draw you in immediately with her writing. The characters were likeable enough and I found myself (unfairly) getting angry at Tate. I just wanted her to stand up for herself and not be such a wet blanket when it came to Miles… but, I’ve been there. I know what it’s like to love (or think you love) a guy and desperately want them to love you back or think you can change them. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has felt that too. The ending felt very rushed. Their romance was a slow burner the whole way through. I was so excited to see if they ended up together or not and understand why Miles was so guarded. However, when we finally got to the moment of understanding it felt like a race to the finish line. I love a book that flicks between POVs and loved going back between Tate in the present and Miles at 18. It felt like we were getting tiny tastes each time of why he’s the way he is and helped build anticipation for the reveal. One of my biggest grievances with this book however, is that they’re so young? He’s 24 and I think she’s 22? I wish they were both five years older because sometimes it felt immature. Also, justice for Ian. IMO he should have featured more in the book because he was the best character. More Ian less Cap. I think this book is pretty overhyped. I’d recommend it if you’ve enjoyed any other CoHo books. She’s definitely a great storyteller, I just would prefer the books to feel a little more adult. ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (3.5) Swipe for my fave quotes from the book ➳ #books #bookclub #whatalexreads_ #bibliophile #reading #booktok #bookreview #bookphotography #readmorebooks #bookstagram #goodreads #review #bookish #bookcommunity #bookclub #bookstagramfollowtrain
