About the book

"Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish. Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, to sort through years of Verity's notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get started. Lowen uncovers an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended anyone to read, with pages of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity's recollection of the night their family was forever altered. Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate him. But as Lowen's feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit, if he were to read his wife's words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue to love her"--

This book caught my eyes from the crazy high reviews here. For sure a page turner that has you gripped in the story, and an unusual storyline that felt really original. The characters felt very black and white to me (thank god for the ending or it would have been way too simplistic), the sex just felt like the editors wanted to throw in a load of sex to sell the book, and I am despairing over the total lack of family planning TWICE 🤦‍♀️ But overall excellent escapism and entertaining read.

Audible Production (9/10): This is the first time in my life that I’ve ever read or listened to a story like this, and I’ve gotta say, this was intense but crafted extremely well. The way the story switches between narrators, the descriptions of love, violence, and mental health, and so much are perfect. The twists and turns in the story make this an incredibly thrilling story! My only complaint is the massive focus on sexual activity. I understand that’s important for these characters, but I don’t need all of the vivid details (or at least that often).

This book is the definition of “sitting on the edge of your seat.” This book will mind-fuck you in a way that you will never come back from. For the rest of my life I will be asking myself, did she or did she not? Letter or Manuscript? WHICH ONE!??

Creepy, easy read, psychological thriller. Each chapter wanting you to keep reading! *SPOILERS AHEAD* * * * The only issue I have is that I feel Verity had other ways of getting through her “truth” to Jeremy and the path she chose took so much more effort. I have to remember though that these characters are unhinged, disturbed and grieving. A part of the book is accepting what you want out of the ending… 🤔 Yet, I am still satisfied.

Preferred ‘Verity’ to ‘It ends with us’. Little bit darker than I’d thought but wasn’t sure on the ending.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book so quickly 24 hours read half of it last night, I literally just finished this and I have never been more angry, disgusted, disturbed or moved from a book before. And all of that was meant in a good way!!! When 32 year old struggling author meets Jeremy after a most tragic incident, she never thought the events that would follow could be as horrific as it was. 5 star book!!

So not what I had expected but I really enjoyed it. It was so much spookier than I had anticipated and in some places, genuinely quite sinister!

Team manuscript or Team letter? That is the question. Personally I am completely team manuscript as there is way too much evidence behind it! I must say I did not go into reading this book completely blind however the plot twist somehow did still shock me. I really enjoyed how the chapters were written by switching between Lowens point of view and the horror of Verity’s manuscript and then eventually the manuscript. I think this was a great creepy thriller yet also sort of a good dark romance.

I finished this book in one sitting and devoured it whole. I did not see the plot twist coming and it kept me on my toes the whole time. Colleen Hoover writes so well and I adored this book. Definitely my favourite or hers so far. Check trigger warnings.

One of the best books I’ve ever read! Found it hard to read the pages about the twins as babies but the entire book keeps you guessing and you just can’t predict what’s going to happen next. Loved it!

HOLY SHITTT lemme just say coho needs to write more thriller books!! the ending came as such a shock to me!! i feel like the whole story was turned around 360 degrees in just the last few pages: the part where verity’s letter to jeremy was written. totally did not see that coming. and honestly as fucked up as this sounds, i’d prolly do the same thing that Lowen did when she found the letter. like… i mean they killed her!! and she was already preggo w jeremy’s kid!! while reading the book, i physically had to set the book down for a few moments to catch my breath bc my heart was beating so fast from the adrenaline. the descriptive writing and imagery of the scenes rly had me thinking verity was watching me from the corner of my room. ik i won’t forget abt this book for a while. wow. WOW.

amazing. splendid. gave up going to the toilet for this book, rushed home and read it while eating my dinner. amazing in all aspects; the romance, the tension, the thrill and the right amount of creepiness. the plot twists were insane and the open concept of the ending that is up to reader's interpretation was also done AMAZINGLY WELL
