Bedre hvis det ikke havde været en kopi af en sort kvindes værk - What a time to be alone…

Started and completely hooked, read 3 chapters and its already got me ordering more feminist books. Glad some chapters had trigger warnings but it was great to see a book go into depth about sexual assault and saying no. Along with reminding me that I do have boundaries and its okay to say no to people. Sometimes it could come across as if it was against everything that was created but I think that was more me wrapping my head around the internalised misogyny i've grown up with. I do believe that I don't think i want a man walking me down an aisle if i do get married - maybe Larissa.

If you read this as a manifesto for modern womanhood than it is a better read than if you are expecting an anthropological/sociological explanation of why their is still so little understand between the sexes. Florence is not concerned with discussions about the latter - she is speaking directly to women of all backgrounds - cis, hetero, queer, trans, black, white, Asian, African - about how we can be better to ourselves and to others. I found it a reaffirming read - it didn't tell me much I hadn't already read but I did enjoy the chapters about finding contentment in oneself and ones company. The day after reading I took myself for a date, had fish and chips and sangria and enjoyed my own blissful company 😎 ty Floss
