Based on a crazy, outrageous, incredible true story! As stated previously, a more unruly form of systemic racism is most definitely existent in modern society, and has been for quite some time in recent memory. However, the 21st century is not the only time period such a travesty can be found. Its roots can be seen in the views and actions of white folks living in the late 1960s/early 1970s when the Ku Klux Klan was still present as it ever was and violent protests ravaged the streets of almost every city and town in the nation. Much like today. Enter Spike Lee’s Oscar-winning masterpiece BlacKkKlansman (2019), a film with such a powerful and relevant message. It’s blatantly real, without making the viewer feel trapped or forcing them to remember the time period in which the story is set, is as thought-provoking as any film the outstandingly talented director has put out over the years, such as Do the Right Thing (1989), and is wonderful acted. Based on a remarkably gutting true story, the inexplicable horror of the kind of acts presented in the film actually happening puts a sense of tremendous anger in the viewer, no matter how many times they may watch it. Lee masterfully blends surrealist comedy with gripping drama to form a film truly deserving of its Best Picture win. To dumb down the equation that makes this film an absolute winner is as follows: a great sound track + unforgettable acting (especially the powerhouse performances of John David Washington and Adam Driver) + perilous situations + striking uncomfortability + heaviness + great cinematography + spectacular editing + awesome screenplay + pure captivation. What more can be said about BlacKkKlansman except that it’s awe-inspiringly brilliant and, frankly, one of the finest and socially conscious movies to come out of 2019, let alone to come out of the 2010s?

This movie shows you a bit the history of racism in the United States with high comedy overtones, but it is a good movie to spend a while and at the same time learn a little about what happened in the USA.

Very powerful and relevant movie about the issues of race in America and the stupidity of the KKK

This is super good! Really powerful and well made. The split scenes are really well directed.

Story line is good, but too long, slow and with way too many plot holes.
