A fairly standard teen romance based on a book. The main actress has good charisma. The actors cast as her parents were kind of weird choices but whatever. The lead guy was the least interesting to me. I ended up weirdly just wanting to watch more of her with her friends. Some cute relationship moments though. This is one of the few that actually points out the lead is also making mistakes, acting dumb, or exhibiting flawed thinking (as EVERYONE does). Nice to see her called out on her issues while others are called out on theirs. It also subverts stereotypes (the lead isn't the only smart one, for example, and the pretty Queen Bee type also gets to have a cool hobby instead of just be into clothes etc). In the end, it's nothing really different. Lead actress and some of the messages gets an 8 but the movie overall was meh.

very cute young adult romance movie, i haven’t read the books but i heard good things about it. one thing about was that i think the many character looked to old compared to how old her character was supposed to be. i looked it up and she is 25 so, yes, she is older but i wish they had casted one that looked closer to the age like the other girls but idkkkk

This was so boring. I didn’t believe on the main actresses connection with any of the characters be it Eli, her fiends, her parents. Everything was so flat and one tone. It felt like a mish mash of « cute » scenes with no actual purpose. Almost everything was told to us instead of shown. Felt really disconnected. Skip this one unless you really just want beach vibes.
