Such a wonderful film. Great plot with actually some great twists and beautiful animation based around the Dia de los Muertos in Mexico. Touches on some really sad topics though so be prepared to get the tissues out 😢

I absolutely loved this movie! The story is well-written, sweet, dramatic and takes you through the full range of emotions. Based off the tradition of ‘Dia de los Muertos’ it also teaches you Mexican culture. The movie has an excellent soundtrack and the cinematography is just breathtaking. Make sure to watch it on a proper TV if you missed it in the cinema! ❤️

Ok! It's a Disney (Pixar) movie and it's a musical fantasy. Didn't expect anything form this movie but it's was sure full of surprise and eye candy animation. Animation: Talking about animation it's pretty amazing 10 out of 10 in animation. Story/Plot: It's quite good or maybe I think. It's 8 out of 10 for Story. MUSIC/OST: 9.5 out of 10 for OST.

i love this movie so much, even after my 87th time watching it, i still get sad. hector backpacks the movie with his depressing story and i ate it up. if you don't cry the first time watching this, then you must be troubled.

MoviePass movie number 20 was Coco, an animated Pixar release. The story follows Miguel, a young Mexican boy who yearns to be a musician......except for the fact that his family totally rejects music due to some family history. The story takes place on Dia de Muertos, the Day of the Dead. Miguel is inspired by Ernesto de la Cruz, "the greatest musician ever". One thing leads to another and Miguel ends up stealing Ernesto's guitar.....which ends up placing a curse on his family and he sent to the Land of the Dead. He has until sunrise to fulfill something or Miguel will spend the rest of his existence in the Land of the Dead. First and foremost, this is a beautifully animated film. The graphics and the colors were eye popping. Since I saw this with MoviePass, I could only see it in 2D....one of the drawbacks of the system (no 3D or IMAX films). I think it would be wonderful in 3D. The Land of the Dead is an amazingly computer animated place. The artist Frida Kahlo shows up in a scene or two. She is trying to produce a huge musical production number.....and her vision is SO Frida Kahlo it's hysterical. One of my favorite parts of the film. The movie places its main focus on family and keeping alive the memories of those who have passed on. It may even make you tear up a little. The only drawback to the film is that there is a 20 minute Olaf/Frozen Christmas short before the movie. I had read that the audience reaction had been quite bad and that they were going to remove it from screenings this week.....but I guess I wasn't so lucky. I know this is going to come as a shock, but I have never seen Frozen and there are times I feel like the only American who hasn't. I know the characters, but that is about it. So.....I lost interest in this short right away. In fact, I actually nodded off during it. Olaf was being chased by wolves....or something.....and then the next thing I knew there were credits rolling. If you aren't into Frozen, see if you can check out if the short is being played before your screening of Coco. If it is, you can show up twenty minutes late. Trust me....you aren't missing anything. A beautiful, colorful movie that shouldn't be missed. Coco.......not the Olaf one.

Magical, enchanting, Coco is an inspiring movie to watch. I feel so many emotions whenever this plays on the screen. It's the perfect Halloween movie for families especially. I know I'm going to continue enjoying this as I age, all the while the song Remember Me bringing tears to my eyes.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this film but I was pleasantly surprised. It was emotional, colorful, smart and teaches the importance of celebrating family. The story follows a young boy who has dreams about playing guitar but his family is oddly against the idea because of his great, great Grandfather. The boy finds himself traveling to the land of the dead and meeting his deceased family members who help to try get him back to the land of the living while also filling him in on why his family is against music. For a film based around music I was happily impressed that there wasn't too many songs and the songs they did have weren't what I would call "catchy", but they were pleasant and easy to listen to, almost relaxing. The middle of the film does drag a little bit, not ever to the point that I lost interest mind you, but the powerful emotional ending more than makes up for it. I'm a grown man but goddamn, even I had a tears in my eye... I liked the film as a whole and can't pick just one specific scene as my favourite but I really enjoyed the spirit animals - colorful, unique and powerful.

Coco's rich visual pleasures are matched by a thoughtful narrative that takes a family-friendly – and deeply affecting – approach to questions of culture, family, life, and death.
