This movie was super hyped so i was excited to watch it. This + new season of Succession actually made me get HBO Max 🥴 The film is beautifully made, and they create a captivating world. As the movie progresses the plot become increasingly captivating. I felt myself really looking forward to part 2 when it ended. I did however feel i sometimes lacked some context. Almost like i was watching the 5th Star Wars and hadn’t seen any of the others. I totally get that this is part of the allure, but at times i just felt sort of out of the loop on the story. The cast is also absolutely amazing, and probably the thing that makes this an 8 over 7. Zendaya, Skarsgård, Momoa!

YES PLEASE I'LL HAVE ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE PLEASE THANK YOU. Breathtakingly beautiful designs, a bone-rumbling score and a thoughtful, perfectly paced introduction to the worlds, families and politics of Dune. Was more than I expected it would be and should 100% be seen on the big screen.

Give the movie your full attention and you will be rewarded. It is a very exciting movie, but it is not as action packed as in the trailer - which is quite alright. A great movie with an intriguing story and fantastic acting. Be aware that it is the first of two movies.

Oh man! What a movie 👏 It’s been a while since I’ve seen a sci-fi and boy this did not disappoint. You gotta pay attention but it’s worth it. I felt some people said the storyline was hard to follow but I didn’t think it was that bad. It’s slow at times but I didn’t mind because the filming and cinematography is gorgeous. The 2h 35min flew by and I was sad when it ‘ended’. I can’t wait for the sequel! I would have given it a 10 but I have to admit this was NOT one of Hans Simmer’s beat. I was shocked to see he was responsible for the score - I found it a bit obstructive at times. Overall amazing movie ❤️

I had absolutely no expectations for this movie once so ever. I don't usually watch alot of space opera movies. Plus I have never heard of or seen dune before this so I didn't know what to expect. I saw it on hbo max and wanted to give it a try and oh boy am I glad I did. This movie is pure eye candy from start to finish. With the Cinematography done by Greig Fraser who killed it with the camera shots. I know that is to be expected from a Denis Villeneuve movie but WOW! From the beautiful set Designs , epic theme music, good looking CGI ,and very impressive make up the team had to work work on was just awesome to see. You can definitely tell they worked their asses off for this movie. While watching this I can tell this is just the start of something big so I am curious to see about the confirmed sequel will be. Also I wasn't expecting this movie to have a body count it had people was dying left to right. Dune was a movie I wasn't expecting to like but ended up really liking it.

Very very beautiful movie but also very confusing haha it lost me towards the end and I found it hard to keep focus, but yeah still good! Smart move having Zendaya in pretty much all press even though she’s only in the movie for like 10 minutes, but she attracts viewers so smart smart, apparently she’s the main character in part 2 so idk

A really beautiful movie with lots of great actors and actresses and should I describe it with one word it would be “big”. The director does not hurry which makes it a bit slow-going sometimes but it’s probably for the best knowing it is based on a book which is always hard to transform into motion picture as many things may get forgotten.

This one is difficult to rate. I liked the cinematics and the cast is just the best of the best. But the movie was very confusing and kinda started like a sequel. As a viewer you never really got a break from start to end but somehow still nothing really happened until the last 10 minutes of the movie. I don't think it's a good standalone movie but I will watch the heck out of the next ones to come because I think the big story will be awesome and the whole Dune universe looks promising!

Dune occasionally struggles with its unwieldy source material, but those issues are largely overshadowed by the scope and ambition of this visually thrilling adaptation.

📣 Top user review: I've had the privilege to watch this enigmatic film at the Venice Festival. Dune is a diverse blend of sumptuous visual storytelling and magnificent cinematic experience. Director Villeneuve has built an enigmatic world that is easy to get lost in. With the help of a stellar cast and Zimmer's enthralling score, what he also brings is a gentle rawness to the film. Overall a thoughtful and hypnotic world building. It's everything a sci-fi should be.

Ok, the 1984 version officially no longer exists! This is the adaptation of Dune that we needed and wanted. Epic! Can't wait for part 2.

A Love Letter to CINEMA ❤️ Watch it on Biggest screen available. My IMAX experience was fabulous. The live action cinematography and VFX blend is seamless. Top notch visuals and BGM - Hans Zimmer… take a bow 🙇🏻♂️ . Excellent performances by everyone but it’s a bummer they have very limited screen time. Also this might be a minute thing and most of them might not give much importance but the dialogues are so good. Some hit you so deep 🔥 Dune isn’t a flawless movie either. The story is so big and the narration is so slow that it makes you sleep at times. There’s so much talking and less action. You also get Star Wars vibes 🦧

Grand, Huge, Visually Striking, Incomplete, Emotionless Ambitious, occasionally thrilling, and visually striking, Dune is mostly set up, building out a heartless world that never truly feels complete.

Denis Villeneuve’s awe-inspiring epic is a moment of triumph Villeneuve’s take on the sci-fi classic starring Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac and Zendaya has been given room to breathe, creating a colossal spectacle.

As a book reader, this is a faithful adaptation, almost to the page. The pivotal plot points, the characters, and the settings are pulled straight from the novel. The question remains: is that a good thing? It’s visually gorgeous. Dennis Villanueva is the perfect director - large, open shots that capture a bleak and unforgiving environments. But the pace is a slog for half the movie, and it tries to include so much exposition in such a condensed medium that it leaves your average watcher discombobulated. This is a great movie as far as purists go. But, I’m not entirely sure Dune is made for the big screen.

Visually 10/10, music 10/10, story adaptation… ugh. I’m aware there will be a second part (and hopefully a third part), but right now the pacing just doesn’t seem working. 156 mins ended on Paul getting accepted by the Fremen really wasn’t what I was expecting. Can’t wait to see how second film will be laid out.

Could not fault it. So excited (all over again) for part 2. I purposefully didn't pre-read or watch any previous iterations and so glad I did. There is A LOT of detail to unpack but nothing that detracts from the whole. Instead it conveys that Denis has crafted so much into this movie. I love something that takes the proper time, and it didn't feel like a slog at any point. Because of that space it feels like a story that told every phrase at the perfect pace. I highly recommend IMAX too. Was my first time watching in IMAX and it made a considerable difference. The sound has been a phenomenal aspect of Villeneuve and IMAX let's it make your bones shake in all the right ways. I loved it that much, I'm going to book in to watch it again.

Amazing director, well made. These Kind of shots and cinematography is awesome. Yes about the story its just the beginning but I can see a great franchise building up on this. More to come more to watch. Just wishing that don't take long 2 years to make other movie

Four stars for Dune Denis Villeneuve's big-budget, A-list version of Frank Herbert's cult sci-fi novel has premiered at the Venice Film Festival. But will it succeed where others have failed?

Really liked the world and all the cool little details. Also, looks super nice. Not the best ending because theyre setting up the next.

Technically, this film is brilliant; the visual effects and composition are phenomenal, but sound balancing could have been a lot better. I know everyone is focusing on Chalamet here (who did a pretty good job all around), but for me Oscar Isaac is the one who stands out the most for me. That man can ACT, and despite the writing of his character, he does. The 20 minutes of Zendaya are also wonderful; she’s one of my favorite actresses and she does so much with so little screen time. This film is incredibly too long. You can’t make a film long simply because you can, the audience should feel the purpose of the length. But I just felt the drag of it all. If the sequel is more purposeful with its screen time and has better writing, I might genuinely enjoy it. But this one? Nah. Big worm. 🪱

I liked the Movie... The Visuals, The Lore, The Soundtrack, The Setting and Everything... I Really Don't Have Much to Say About It Honestly... May be because I've watched it in parts... But overall this movie seems like a Prelude to Something Bigger... Waiting for the Second Part ❤️

Denis: Look at those effects, the costumes, the score, the colorgrading, this landscape, the cinematography, the great actors, these sets, those epic sandworms, the pictures... Me: But the plot, Denis... the plot ...

Really enjoyed it. Everyone did a really good job. Definitely interested in seeing more. Almost made me want to read Dune. Almost.

Slow paced movie? Good movie? Also yes BUT WHY DOES ZENDAYA ONLY GET 3 MINUTES OF SCREEN TIME

Denis Villeneuve never misses. And hopefully never will. What a king. Dune was my most awaited film in years and it was worth all the wait, can't wait for the second part now that it is officially announced. I can never forget the experience of Charlotte Rampling's voice in Gom Jabbar scene in IMAX. The whole theater jumped. Out of body experience.

Watch it in 4K ... Otherwise don't watch it .... The cinematic experience is up there with movies like Avatar .... Story is confusing at some moments but i hope the second part will give more insights on the unanswered questions

this film was epic, couldn’t wish for a better film adaptation to the book. The music from Hans Zimmer and those immaculate animations were just the cherry on top! And i didn’t even mention the actors though, such good casting!

As an art form it is beautiful cinematography, a vast world with an overarching plot. The characters were empty however and I felt like I was missing something throughout the movie.
