I’m only giving this documentary a 3/10 and I’m okay with that. The filmography is great and the underwater shots are stunning. But even as a biologist, this is SO BORING. I came to watch octopuses not some filmmaker I’ve never heard of talk about his life. Also, the fact this got nominated for the Oscars shows me how these awards can truly suck and miss so many marks. They could’ve nominated Duck Johnson is Dead (2020) instead of this crap.

I’m a massive fan of nature documentaries period! This was a refreshing and unique experience not seen before in this genre of 🎞. The footage deserves an 8, a few parts drifted and ended up marking down my score a little. However PLEASE do not be put off by my score! This is a definite watch and ultimately will always come down to an individual’s watching/take of this nature documentary/story. Ate all the popcorn 🍿 in the first ten minutes with this flick 😬 🙄 😛

This so so much more than a friendship between a man and an Octopus. Either you get it or you don’t. Nothing like this out their. Not For Hollywood Lovers.

A man has a mental breakdown and falls in love with an octopus. An eye opening insight into the natural world. What we all want to know though is did his marriage survive?

Loved this documentary! Gave me new insights into these mysterious creatures, and the fact that it was interwoven with the story of the narrator made the tale of these encounters that much richer and unique.

Fantastic documentary, told as a human-animal interaction story. Amazing how patience and dedication got this guy so close to observe a daily life of an alien-like and intelligent creature such as the octopus 🐙
