August 7, 2021 (10/10): Well this one did it. I have been dying for a new DC film for quite some time and we’ve finally gotten it alongside a killer new trailer for The Batman (2022)! I have so much love for comic books and the films that have spawned from them, and this film only heightens that love. My dad and I were constantly laughing and smiling throughout this because it was an absolute joy to witness. The action, the humor, the score, and the unexpectedness of who will die always left me on the edge of my seat and excited for more to come. As of this moment, this is by far my favorite film of 2021, and might truly be one of my favorite comic book films ever! Now here come some of my thoughts on specific portions/characters. Be warned. SPOILERS: Starro the Conqueror. THEY DID IT! AND THEY DID IT WELL!! Starro was truly phenomenal and showcased the talent behind the camera and brought to life a creature that I never thought would be portrayed in a live-action film. I still can’t believe they did it. Of course, Harley Quinn is a hoot! Margot Robbie is truly one of the greatest actresses ever and brings so much life to the character (as she always has). I loved how she had moments that focused on her, but it never overpowered the other members of Task Force X. KING SHARK VOICED BY THE GREAT SYLVESTER STALLONE!!! By far one of my favorite characters throughout this film and I believe James Gunn and the crew behind this film gave us our best on-screen interpretation of King Shark so far! Bloodsport was brilliant of course and played by the insanely talented Idris Elba. He brings so much life and depth to the character which is very refreshing because comic book films tend to be larger than life. Bloodsport kept the story realistic and served as a tether between the DC universe and the audience. John Cena as Peacemaker was another outstanding performance! Cena has really started to become a talented actor and I cannot wait to see the upcoming show based on his DC character. Peacemaker can be identified as many things (villain, hero, anti-hero), and this film manages to showcase them all. January 14, 2022 (10/10): This film is somehow even greater on rewatch, because man, I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen for the entire runtime yet again. What James Gunn and DC manage to accomplish with this film are absolutely phenomenal. Writing, casting, score, acting, cinematography, lighting, costumes, and literally every aspect of this film is superb. I’ve been dying to rewatch this, and I’m so glad I finally did. The Peacemaker series that started yesterday tied into this so well and makes me want to see more DC projects from the direction of James Gunn.

Can you imagine? Guy, the movie was dead on arrival. The killing of the first set of "heroes" was the worst mistake ever! I have no idea what they were doing from then o. Really poor strategy all the way from the start. Pretty stupid dialogues. Spoiler alert: The first death was a character called Weasel who did not even arrive at the destination ...he died cos he couldn't swim. Needless, stupid death. How do they not know that weasels are expert swimmers?? How messed up is that?? And who came up with TDK? What kinda hero has a detachable slow moving hand that only delivers regular non-lethal slap? What 3-yr-old kid advised them to include that in the lineup? One hero is a shark on land! How absurd is that? Abeg, I give up. Stupid all the way. 2.8/10

Peace maker - that is all… No but really this is probably cena’s best character by far, he’s very funny without trying hard. I absolutely love what Gunn has bought to the DC world, mush needed. It’s very hard to pin point a favourite character as they are all written and acted so wel, you grow an attachment to each one. What a great night!

The Suicide Squad is a wildly fun ride. A James Gunn Magnum Opus. This movie sets a new standard to comic book movies. A masterpiece you shouldn’t miss. Trust me it’s a real deal!

Adorable King Shark, and Ratcatcher 2 . Quite literally the best film from the dceu, thank god James Gunn was fired or we might have never had this masterpiece!!

I was sceptical about this movie as it is from the DC universe - which is really the Android of superhero franchises. But oh man was this good! It is really weird and funny in a way I love. Has definitive vibes of Deadpool and The Boys! The characters are great - like Polka Dot man 😂 Def watch if you like funny superhero movies 🦸‍♀️

My most anticipated movie of The year lived up to the hype and Im in love with it. If I had to complain about anything I would say some characters bit the bullet to early I would of liked to see them so more before they died but it didn't take away any enjoyment. This movie was so unapologetically funny and bloody from start to finish. I love how James Gunn brought humanity and backstory to some of the characters to make really care for them. It was so entertaining and is something I can watch again anytime.

📣 Top user review: Remember when James Gunn was 'temporarily' fired by Marvel Studios and we were all disappointed by the decision? Well, it turns out that was a blessing in disguise when Warner Bros. Booked him for a slot of this movie and months later, he was reemployed by the giant-sized company for GOTG 3 and he just killed two heroes with one stone. 2021's The Suicide Squad is indeed, THE Suicide Squad that we all deserve! The most outstanding thing about this latest squad is the way they blend and mix in everything into the recipe. It's like you're watching a bunch of genres; comedy, dark comedy, fantasy, action, thriller, drama, superhero, spoof and commentaries; political, social contexts, world revolving issues all together and yet, it tastes très bon! Often enough, movies that try to do everything together fail big time but not this one. This is a cinematic achievement. James Gunn, who also directed Guardians of the Galaxy, knew that the Marvel/DC films have rehashed their materials multiple times; basic origin, romance, giving up, final battle. Hence, Gunn develops a non-formulaic approach that seems suicidal at first but triumphantly creates something unique and unpredictable. From the get-go, Gunn's vision is unconventional but polished, enough to make the audience feels they have never seen anything like it before. Talking about unpredictability, it indeed is what it is. You never know what will come next, who will die or survive. There are a few times that Gunn uses the head fake technique to deceive viewers from its sequential but engaging storytelling. Like Deadpool, something unexpected happens at the moment when you least expect it. The juxtaposition of both the 2016's and 2021's is evidently visible. While 2016 has its moments, almost everyone could agree it was disappointingly bland af. The 2021 entry has a strong direction and far better pacing, let alone twists that are fully captivating. The only couple of things that 2016 did it better were the trailers and the soundtrack. The Rated-R is straight up hardcore to the face. It's superbly gory, darkly comical and unabashedly funny, all without pulling its punches. This is how DC films should be, not as dour as Zack Snyder's but not as light as Marvel's either. When it comes to flaws, albeit its powerful opening scene, I feel that they waste many of the potential characters here insofar some of them never even got the chance to show their abilities, skills, talents or superpowers. I am also not impressed by the intensity of the movie's brightness particularly on the background in some scorching white scenes. It defaces the texture of the film and should dazzle some viewers, left distorting of what could have been an iconic scene like the slo-mo segment. All in all, 2021's The Suicide Squad makes for a suicidal task with flamboyantly sheer colourful characters that collectively sign up for one thing amidst this pandemic chaos; blasting out loud the volume of fun and violence, subsequently climbing to the top as the best DCEU Film ever made.

What an awesome movie! It didn’t bomb at all like the “first” Suicide Squad. I laughed the whole way through and what a crazy team of great actors. Will 100% recommend.

Let’s be real, James Gunn isn’t bloody Shakespeare (although, I guess he does the bloody part in this one). He aims to blow things up, shoot things off, put together huge CGI fights, and sprinkle in some quality comedy. And here, Gunn sticks to his, uh, guns. The director tries to carry over the comedic-action touch from Guardians of the Galaxy to the DC universe, which allows him to be raunchier and gorier. John Cena doesn’t disappoint, and once you buy into the absurdity, there are laughs to be had. Just know that the level of sophistication hovers somewhere around elementary school. It gets a little lost in a boring fetch-quest plot and characters that you don’t really care about. Still, while it’s nowhere near the character-driven charm of Guardians of the Galaxy, there’s enough here to satisfy most superhero film fans.

SPOILER WARNING I liked this Suicide Squad 10 times more than the original for so many reasons. It actually had a decent plot, made sense, had a great cast, and I was never confused about what was happening or who was who. I will definitely be watching this again because it was great. Positives: - Absolutely in love with King Shark and Sebastian the rat. - It had a great amount of humor throughout the film along with drama, and action. - Harley Quinn is just the best in all way because she is funny, but also a badass. - I like how the Joker wasn't in this at all and Harley got her moment to be herself instead of being a sidekick to Joker the whole time. - The duos that formed in this film are great including: peacemaker and bloodsport, rat catcher and King shark, and Harley and anyone. - I loved the visuals throughout including the different title sequence illustrations and the Harley Quinn escape scene with all of the flowers. - One of my favorite scenes is when Harley escapes the building where she was tortured. Visually that was so cool and Harley was great in it. - The whole bit with the Polka Dot mans mom was really funny to me because that is his motivation to kill anyone. Negatives: - I do not think the storyline was needed about Harley and the leader of the foreign country was necessary. I think she should have just been captured and had to escape. - I do find it strange that they had two separate teams. I feel like they could have been one team because one team everyone lived and everyone except two on the other team died. Overall: 4 out 5 Stars

I don't understand the bad ticket saless. This movie is amazing and John Cena's performance here is phenomenal. Fast and Furious wronged him and I'm looking forward to have an origin movie of The Peacemaker.

Way more entertaining than Black Widow. Harley Quinn was the worst part of the movie surprisingly, that forced romance angle was the worst scene of the film. Thought the antagonist was ridiculous but it is a comic book film after all. Stuck between a 6 and a 7. Had a lot of fun

I wish I could give it a negative 1. I love DC & actually read the comics so I was extremely disappointed with this movie. I’ll stick to Ayers. Of all the amazing characters they could choose from plus the Rogues gallery; they chose these. This movie lacks the heart of Ayers. They ruined Wallers character. Amanda Waller is extremely dangerous & terrifying. She intimidates everyone & no one dares to cross her because they know she’s ruthless & her wrath is monumental. This movie diminishes what makes her character great. Of course Viola Davis was still brilliant. SPOILER !!! They killed off the wrong characters. John Cena’s character is so unlikable & now he gets a solo series. I would’ve preferred a Katana series. One glorious Harley Quinn scene but the rest was crap. Overall terrible pacing & jumps in time. A lot of unnecessary scenes & subplots. One of the worst comic book movies ever made & yes I saw the 80’s Supergirl movie. All the cool & violent action scenes in the world can’t save you if I don’t care about the story or characters. Like I said, it completely lacked the heart of Ayer’s movie. An absolute piece of garbage. It’s also apparently funny but I didn’t laugh once 🤷🏻‍♀️

This movie was not for me. It had a lot more gore than the first movie which was to be expected, but it was just a lot. There are parts that I did like but there are more that I didn’t. Other then that the music was great and the cinematography was well done, but it’s not something that I would watch again.

Based on what I have read regarding the 2016 Suicide Squad, I think this is closer to what Ayer had in mind before the all-knowing studio heads got involved. That being said this is what I was expecting when I originally heard a Suicide Squad Movie was being made. The plot is absolute garbage, to say the least, but if you ignore that and focus on the action, character choices, humor, character interactions, and outstanding on-screen chemistry you will not be disappointed. I had read very little about his movie before watching it, after DC's endless disappointments, my expectations were below zero for this film, but I have to say it was amazing. Gunn definitely earns his R-rating. There are plenty of great actors in the movie, and Gunn's choice of characters to include are phenomenal and add to the fun. Including Idris Elba as clearly Deadshot, but not Deadshot. Sylvester Stallone does a great job as King Shark and the fact he took the role, shows he has a sense of humor. Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn is perfect in this movie and comes to prove that the character of Harley Quinn is good in small doses and as part of a larger cast. However, the best character/actor is John Cena in my opinion. He steals every scene he is in. He is absolutely hiiiiilarious. His sense of humor is amazing, Mr. Peace, jajajajajaja. Overall, you will not be disappointed. Hopefully, the studio heads of DC, learn that the less they are involved the better for everyone. If they want to justify their salaries, they can go make coffee or get lunch, jajajajajajaja.

I loved it. But I also resent it a bit for being such a stark departure from the tone of the first. I mean, the dark comedy was beautiful and I loved the new characters completely, but killing who they did bugged me and the complete change in soundtrack style/tone really broke my heart. By itself, I'd have said fantastic. As a sequel, I have such feelings.

Visual story telling was awesome it was easy to follow, it juggled the characters just right. It practically is the opposite of the first one. Loved the way that the first part was fast paced getting the introduction out so they can proceed to the story in a couple of minutes in.

Everyone That Passed Away In The Suicide Squad. The DCEU's newest entry, "The Suicide Squad," is just as gory and hilarious as you would expect an R-rated, James Gunn-directed superhero movie to be. True to its comic book roots and Gunn's previous works, there's a huge body count in the film, and we're not just talking about innocent bystanders. The marketing for the film urged moviegoers not to get "attached" to any of the supervillains featured in the trailers, and the film certainly delivers on the promise of deadly harm. From the good to the bad to the ugly, here's everyone that died in "The Suicide Squad." Man from the little details to the plots and the art of storytelling was just bang on super awesome you'll love it. And please do watch it only at theatres near you. It's a hell of experience with that whole sorround sounds and all the thrill and the action sequences that are made entirely for the sake of theatres only. You'll ruin your experience by watching on tv or any other device. This is a made for cinema movie.
