Mei Lee (voice of Rosalie Chiang) is a confident, dorky 13-year-old torn between staying her mother's dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. Her protective, if not slightly overbearing mother, Ming (voice of Sandra Oh), is never far from her daughter - an unfortunate reality for the teenager. And as if changes to her interests, relationships and body weren't enough, whenever she gets too excited (which is practically ALWAYS), she "poofs" into a giant red panda.

I didn’t find the humor all that funny, and the main character annoyed me. She got away with a lot of bad things and got what she wanted almost all the time. It was exhausting to watch. The one thing I really did like was how cute the panda was.

A nice little coming of age film. Not as comical as advertised but still some nice light hearted bits.

It was so cute! I’m so so so in love with the boyband 💅 Finneas and Billie did a great job writing the music, and Jordan Fisher’s voice is incredible. The story is really original and wholesome, it has a deeper meaning to everything and it’s enjoyable for both adults and kids. (My 11 year old brother got bored though).

Another marvelous animated film that addresses important topics as well as it does serve as an entertaining watch. The type of movie I want to show to my daughters as much as I want to watch it myself.

Seriously such a cute movie! All the early 2000 references made my heart happy. It made me a tiny bit emotional with how it shows relationships change as thats something I'm currently experiencing. Great Great job Disney!!

Soundtrack is on point Pixar knows it's target audience and delivers a masterpiece animation with a little bit of everything in it, be it the drama, the tension or the puberty period of a child. Loved the movie !

Its wonderful. Even though at the start a lot of things may seem cringey, the latter half of the film makes you appreciate it even more. I cried during the penultimate scene. Really identified with the mother daughter relationship shown here. I don’t believe that the panda is an analogy for periods, but rather for puberty and childhood in general! I would explain more but don’t wanna spoil!

Very cute movie and would def rewatch. 4town is such a great representation of early 2000s music and I love the overall vibe of the movie. There is a lot of Asian representation and I love it.

Cute animation style and I liked a few of the story beats, but too much reminded me of Mabel and her friends from Gravity Falls and I found the pacing mismatched overall

This moving does a fantastic job showcasing not only the changes that puberty causes, but that it’s natural for children to develop their own sense of identity at some point in their lives. You can maintain a good relationship with your child without being over protective, they’ll have to find themselves eventually. Everyone should be able to relate to this since we’ve all been teenagers before.

SPOILER WARNING This movie was so cute and heartwarming. I do not fully understand why parents are finding this controversial. It is just about a growing teenager who is trying to figure out her life as a thirteen year old. So they mention menstruation, who cares? Positives: - I loved how this, besides turning into a panda, was relatable for most teenage girls. We get mood swings and we can be moody. We all go through that awkward 13 year old phase and I feel like this movie did a good job showing it. - I like how she was the only one who kept her red panda power out of all the women in her family. It showed how she wanted to be different even though she wanted to be the perfect daughter. - I really like how it is based around Cantonese/ Chinese culture. I think it is really cool how they honor their ancestors instead of just worshipping one God. - I love Mei and her friends. They remind so much of my friends and I when we were younger. - The animation was so pretty and detailed, I loved it. - I really liked how Mei and her mom overcame their differences and realized how similar they really were. When Mei helped the younger version of her mom and realized that she was going through the same things her mom did when she was younger. - I loved how all of the women of the family came together to help her mom get back to normal after she "turned red". They all turned back into pandas just to save her even though they all were cured later. Negatives: - Um Miriam and Priya are definitely bi, but Disney/pixar isn't ready for that conversation. - I wanted more of the mom's story into what she did when she was a teenager red panda. We know she had anger issues and tore down half of the temple for her future husband, but like what else? She never talks about it, so I want the details. Overall: 4 1/2 out 5 Stars

Such a great Pixar film 🥰 it's just the right balance of a coming of age film and dealing with the bigger hormonal topics, but never feeling overbearing on their messages. Truly there were some laugh out loud moments and a lot that I related to growing up in a household of girls.

So good. Definitely exceeded my expectations. I know that there was criticism about it ‘not be relatable’ but I personally resonated with the film deeply. Super fun and heartwarming

i liked this movie a lot! maybe the change in the animation made it a little bad, but it's a great movie that shows how frustrating it is for kids to impress their parents!
