About JD

John David Souther is an American singer-songwriter and actor, well-known for having (co-)written hit songs recorded by Linda Ronstadt and the Eagles. Some of his hits for the Eagles include "Best of My Love", "Victim of Love", "Heartache Tonight", and "New Kid in Town." Souther recorded two major hit songs in his solo career: "You're Only Lonely" (1979) and "Her Town Too" (1981), a duet with longtime friend, James Taylor.

As Jeffrey Pommeroy. Vada Sultenfuss has a holiday coming up, and an assignment: to do and essay on someone she admires and has never met. She decides she wants to do an assignment on her mother, but quickly realises she knows very little about her. She manages to get her father to agree to let her go to LA to stay with her Uncle Phil and do some research on her mother.

As The Singer. Pete Sandich is a reckless fire-fighting pilot who is killed in what was to have been his final mission. Ascending to Heaven, Pete is introduced to business-like angel who instructs the spectral Pete to pass on his aviation knowledge to his young successor. While doing so, Pete also smoothes the course of romance for his earthly girlfriend who, after several months of grieving, finally falls in love with another man.

As Self. Austin City Limits (ACL) heads to Nashville for a special broadcast featuring performance highlights from this year’s Americana Honors & Awards. ACL Presents: Americana Music Festival 2014 premieres this Saturday, November 22, on PBS stations across the United States and includes performances from Robert Plant and Ry Cooder, among many others. The show was recorded live at the Americana Music Association's 13th Annual Honors & Awards ceremony at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium in September.

Executive producer. Recorded live at the Coconut Grove in Los Angeles, Roy is joined by an eclectic ensemble of rock and roll superstars including Jackson Browne, Elvis Costello, T-Bone Burnett, J.D. Souther, Jennifer Warnes, k.d. lang, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen and Tom Waits.

Executive producer. Black and White Night 30 is a re-imagined, re-edited, remastered and expanded version of the original television special, available both as a CD/DVD set and as a CD/Blu-ray set on February 24. Re-edited by Roy's youngest son Alex Orbison, the program has been restored to reflect the correct set order as the audience who attended the show saw it. Liner notes written by son Roy Orbison Jr. are included in the packaging as well as a treasure trove of bonus content. Black and White Night 30 includes a previously unseen alternate version of "Oh, Pretty Woman", a previously unseen performance "Blue Angel." a 'secret concert performed by the band after the audience had left of five songs featuring alternate takes of Dream You, "Comedians," "Candyman," "Claudette," and "Uptown".

As Uncle Jerry. Bright and neurotic girl Bell sets two goals for New Year - to quit smoking and to fall in love. As the first task turns out to be too difficult, she puts all her energy into the second.
