About the podcast

Join neuroscientist, philosopher, and best-selling author Sam Harris as he explores important and controversial questions about the human mind, society, and current events. Sam Harris is the author of five New York Times bestsellers. His books include The End of Faith, Letter to a Christian Nation, The Moral Landscape, Free Will, Lying, Waking Up, and Islam and the Future of Tolerance (with Maajid Nawaz). He has written for The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Economist, The Times (London), The Boston Globe, The Atlantic, The Annals of Neurology, and elsewhere. Sam Harris received a degree in philosophy from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in neuroscience from UCLA.

I don’t normally love unedited interview style podcasts - I can find them long, and low return on time - but this podcast is the exception to my rule. Sam Harris is highly thoughtful, insightful & eloquent with his softly spoken words, and selects guests who I have deep respect for. I recommend the episodes with Scott Galloway, Yurval Harari, David Miliband and Ezra Klein. ‘The Republic of Lies’ also crystallises why the recent US election is so concerning. Thanks @MortenVSchroeder for the rec 😘

I haven’t listened to all of them because there’s a lot, but I really enjoy his in-depth questioning and the good ones are really good! Ricky Gervais and Yuval Harari are both really good.

Spændende til tider. Men også med en tendens til at sjoske lidt rundt i det samme. Han har en fornuftig position til det meste, og alle ville helt klart få noget indsigt ud af at lytte til Sam Harris. Men hans format og præsentation halter sgu lidt.

Woah #241 on free will is EXCELLENT. I’m now 100% convinced we do not have free will, but clear on differences between determinism and fatalism. I’m NOT OK with this though. And apparently the bit where Sam explains that this IS, in fact, ok is behind the firewall... it may be time to start paying for this...

Wow! Latest episode #225 where he talks about Trump and the absurdity of it all is really well thought-through and profound! Give it a listen 🎧

Latest episode (#201) is an interview with Yuval Harari (author of Sapiens & Homo Deus). It’s a chat about corona virus - super interesting! Highly recommend!
