The Silent Patient
2019 . Alex Michaelides

image8

Very interesting read and a great psychological thriller. I didn't expect the ending at all although I should've suspected so when the psychoanalyst never doubted her guilt, almost everyone who knew seemed convinced she didn't do it, but he despite the fact that he was so keen on helping her, never mentioned his doubt of her guilt. When all was revealed, I was actually on the verge of forgiving him up until he tried to kill her and then framed his colleague. It's definitely worth reading.

How I Met Your Mother
2005 . Comedy, Romance

This is a great show, a mix of friends with very different personalities who show their love for themselves in, sometimes, weird ways. Barney, a funny, selfish, egotistical businessman who wants to be known as Ted's best friend and has a theory for almost anything related to women. Ted, a cool guy who is obsessed with his hair and looks, wants to be an architect and has had Barney as his 'wingman'. Marshall, an easy going man who wants to work in a law firm that helps humanity and is head over heels in love with Lilly, whom he later got married to. Lilly, a gentle soul who always tries to look out for every one of them, loves Marshall to death and wants to be a world renowned painter. Robin, a skeptic, cynical woman from Canada who dreams to be a well-known newswoman one day. Together, they go on stupid adventures and look out for each other as Ted's narrates all this in story to his children, all leading up to how he met their mother. P.S: I haven't watched the last season.

The Perfect Date
2019 . Romance, Comedy

It was a good movie. Kind of movies you already know what's gonna happen from the onset. This shows a teenager trying to find himself but losing himself and his friends in the process. Getting into take by any means possible what his priority until he realized he was just a shallow guy with vain dreams.

Harry Potter Collection (Harry Potter, #1-6)
2005 . J.K. Rowling

It was a great read. The adventure Harry goes through each book is captivating and both he, Ron and Hermione are given very human-like traits (whereas most of the main characters in fantasies like this are almost flawless, bordering on perfect) which I love, they can make you so annoyed sometimes. It might come as a shock for me to say that my favorite characters weren't Harry Potter and his two friends at all, that's to show how other characters were able to influence the series too. But I noticed some plot holes and what I believed were far-fetched theories (even for a fantasy, I know) and I didn't like the fact that the author killed almost everyone in the novel who knew what his parents looked like and then some. I know it's meant to show his emotional turmoil and part of his development but I found it just a bit much. All in all, that didn't stop the book from being terrific!!!! I recommend you read. P.S: For the first few books, I really didn't understand what the hype it was getting was all about, suffice to say my mind leaned a little towards the opposite of that as I read on.

The Hate U Give
2017 . Angie Thomas

I just have to say, this book made me feel. Made me think, made me see. Just so much is shown and told here, I've never been a victim of racism but I got a feel of it, understood what people who did felt. I loved the way it didn't paint every white as a racist and showed the struggles of every day to day life in a bias world. I strongly recommend you read yourself. - The Hate You Give Young Infants F***ks Everybody THUG LIFE.

Charlie's Angels
2019 . Action, Adventure, Comedy

I loved the action, the drama with a touch of humor. All three characters were very distinct personalities and mode of operations. I would have loved to seen them share more of a bond than they did in the movie but it was nice. And the ending was like a promise of more to come.

This left me feeling like there should be a second movie.

Annie
2014 . Comedy, Drama, Family

image7

It shows one of the things orphans go through in foster homes. Annie was a quirky, confident and funny kid who made the best of her life and although the tycoon first took her in for purely selfish options, their love for one another made his intentions true over time and made him realize what he truly needed was right in front of him all along.

Guava Island
2019 . Comedy, Thriller

It was a beautiful story told by a mother to a child by her hero father. Both of them fighting for their love to prevail in a politically hard time. I loved how the setting was African but I felt his death wasn't justified enough but his people went did enough to make sure his death wasn't in vain, in the end we never saw the villain brought down but still we were satisfied.

The title really shows what the movie is all about and how it makes you feel. Boov a misunderstood and an podcast amongst his race and Tip a young girl who managed to escape being captured by Boov's race. The connection that developed between Boov and Tip was delighting, though Boov started out a little selfish with his intentions in regards to Tip, within the span of time they looked for Tip's mother adventures they had he became more than an acquaintance or a disturbance to Tip. I have to admit, Tips last request of Boov was a little selfish but it only told to show how much she had come to love him. The ending was simply wonderful. And let's not forget the cat! Even if you didn't watch it, listen to 'Dancing in the dark - Rihanna' I loved that song.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
2017 . Adventure, Science Fiction, Action

I loved how futuristic and evolved everything looked. Everything was well planned and executed but I think the relationship between the two lead characters deserved a little more development. The plot twists and suspense were satisfactory.

Ocean's Eight
2018 . Crime, Comedy, Action

The major thing I loved about it was message of female empowerment it was passing. Although there was a lot of kinks in the movie and some explanations were questionable it was a very good movie.
img
Shazam!
2019 . Action, Comedy, Fantasy

image6

Although it was a good movie, I felt a lot of things weren't just right. For one thing, it was a little childish for me and the way he was given the gift was a little less climatic and meaningful than I expected. But I loved how all the kids became superheroes in the ending and how he fought his somewhat selfish nature and let good prevail.

What Could Possibly Go Wrong?
2015 . Documentary, Reality

image8

A science-filled documentary with lots of humor and explanations that really carries the audience along. I love the dare-devil in Grant and the genius in Kevin and their camaraderie is just wonderful. They do crazy experiments that are sometimes dangerous just for the fun of it. This show was great.

How It's Made
2001 . Documentary

image7

It's gives you a view into the world of factories and production of things we use almost everyday. The explanation of the processes are not too in-depth though (I would've loved it to be) and I assume it's so for the better understanding of the viewers. To top it all off, a narrator with a lovely British accent.
