Stanley Yelnats! I LOVED this film so much. I had it on DVD and watched it so so often. I adore this film, I love the characters and the camp and the story behind it all, how it all links together. So beautiful! All because the no good dirty rotten pig stealing great great grandfather. ๐Ÿ– I love zero! ๐Ÿง… ๐Ÿšฃ๐Ÿฟโ€โ™‚๏ธ "Saaaam" ๐Ÿ˜ข dig it uh oh ohh dig it ๐ŸŽถ and the D-tent boys actually sang in that song! Too good. "If only, if only" the woodpecker sighs. "The bark on the tree was as soft as the skies." As the wolf waits below, hungry and lonely, he cries to the moon "If only, if only!"

๐Ÿ“ผ The film I watched over and over on vhs as a child. And I sobbed so hard every time my family would ask if I wanted to fast forward (no, I never did). I still can't watch this film without crying. It is sooo good. Beautiful. Emotional. I love it. "When you're the best of friends, having so much fun together... you're not even aware you're such a funny pair" ๐ŸฆŠ ๐Ÿถ so many cute great relationships! And the conflict, oh boy, how tricky.. become friends with what you're training to hunt. And releasing someone you love to protect them. Beautiful. I love the innocence of Todd. The inner conflict of Copper. The humour from birds (Boomer and Dinky). The nurturing Big Mama and Widow. Aw my heart. "Elimination, lack of education." ๐Ÿ› "Goodbye may seem forever. Farewell is like the end. But in my heart's a memory, and there you'll always be." ๐Ÿ˜ญ ๐Ÿฅฐ ๐Ÿคง so many good songs instantly stuck in my mind and I'm emotional already. I've moved up from my childhood VHS- own a limited edition DVD now; still cry, never fast forward.

This took up almost the entirety of my yesterday; watching, rewinding, telling my friends about it, and videoing clips to send to people! It was that good. Had me ๐‡๐Ž๐Ž๐Š๐„๐ƒ.  โš“๏ธ And this was a good one to have my surround sound on for - the opening scene and music = ๐Ÿ˜ Honestly the entire production was brilliantly done; cinematography, scoring, editing, storytelling, information, and interviews. All done so well! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ Iโ€™m shocked, baffled, and horrified at the facts in this documentary.. also Iโ€™ve learned so much! ๐Ÿค“ Seriously fascinating! But also so important to just know. I had no idea the fishing industry was so horrendous, cruel, apathetic, and controlling. ๐Ÿฅ• I am at least grateful that Iโ€™ve always been a vegetarian and accidentally avoided helping this ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿณ  and donโ€™t have to make any big life diet changes! How when whales surface to breathe, they fertilise phytoplankton, which absorb 4x more CO2 than amazon rainforest, which generates up to 85% of oxygen we breathe. ๐ŸŒฌ Cray. Necessity for each food chain is ๐ฌ๐จ interesting, how losing one would subsequently kill whole ocean life ๐Ÿฆˆ ๐Ÿ  And how much fish feel pain.. and fear, seeing their friends killed in front of them. Ugh. My heart. Iโ€™m ๐ก๐จ๐ซ๐ซ๐ข๐Ÿ๐ข๐ž๐ at Japan and its whaling, the killing of dolphins purely as pest control because they eat fish.. the amount of fish and mammals killed and discarded because they werenโ€™t the target fish. Awful. ๐Ÿšซ ๐˜š๐˜ฐ many issues all down to the fishing trade; including animals near extinction, piracy, murder, trafficking, plastic pollution, global warming, even ebola. And even our taxes fund this? And could save world hunger? ๐˜—๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ต๐˜ต๐˜บ ๐˜ค๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ป๐˜บ. Actually on the topic; I recently found the campaign โ€œMake My Money Matterโ€ (.co.uk) and it shows how our pensions could be funding tobacco, arms, fossil fuels, gambling, deforestationโ€ฆ wonder what I'm secretly funding ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Hard to be honouring in your money when even your government isn't. ๐Ÿ’ฐ This doc here is the true story of greed and consequences. Prime example was how theft of fish docks inadvertently caused ebola outbreak, I mean ๐Ÿคฏ. But the world is run by money.. and so are the companies claiming to protect the planet. Shocker. Hope something changes; especially for this beautiful world we have. ๐ŸŒŽ "๐˜๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ฉ ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ง๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ๐˜ด, ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ต ๐˜ง๐˜ฐ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฅ" (Bruce, Finding Nemo, 2003) ๐Ÿฆˆ

This is most likely my favourite operatic production and cast. My favourite role and work of Natalie Dessay here and Dawn French is such a great surprise role!! Brilliant ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ Honestly I farr prefer to be in operas than to see them. I often get a touch bored from the outside (and genuinely scared I'll accidentally start singing along) BUT this one I ADORE. Has my heart โ™ก Watched it so many times!! As soon as I watched it the first time I had to learn the 'Il Faut Partir' aria. Stunnning aria and not too well known. Beautiful. Seriously, Dessay and French are incredible. Great plot line and work by Donizetti. ใ€Œ I love this ใ€๐Ÿฅฐ I need to find out who nicked my DVD... ๐Ÿ˜’

Wow I loved this film. It went by so quick. The storyline spanned the perfect amount of time ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ Stopped exactly when it should have. (I find that so rare!) And dang, just so beautifully done. LOVE how this whole film shows the importance of perspective. The boy tells the story of this obsessed girl and itโ€™s pretty creepy honestly. You wonder what her problem is. Then you hear her perspective. Definitely shifts how you view the situation when you see both sides.  You keep thinking she is pretty awful and then you hear her side and realise sheโ€™s so far from it. Perspective can really shift the facts. Love how the narrative constantly flips between the two. Incredible story telling. Really emotive. Tugged on my heart strings right from the beginning. Tells a lot through the inner monologues, actually done so well. Canโ€™t put words to it. I LOVEE how after a family argument, both the parents came up separately and spoke to the child. IRL Last year my mum teaching primary showed the kids a film and the young kids spoke in awe of how the father apologised afterwards; saying they wished their parents apologised. It struck my mum and I still think of it. How good it is to show good parenting skills like that on TV so parents and children can see. ๐Ÿฅฒ I had no idea this came out over 10 years ago! Only found it now. Golden. โญ๏ธ Madeline Carroll (main girl) is really good in this, especially. Great to see John Mahoney (know him from Frasier). Liked a lot of the acting honestly. ------ Here are some quotes I loved so much I wrote down: "Her apology made things worse. I knew I wasnโ€™t forgiven. It was like I wasnโ€™t even important enough to hold a grudge against.โ€ โ€œMr. Loski was clean and smooth on the outside.. but it seemed like there was something rotten buried just beneath the surface.โ€ "Some of us get dipped in flat.. some in satin.. some in gloss. But every once in a while you find someone whoโ€™s iridescent. And when you do; nothing will ever compare.โ€ โญ

Loved the insight this book brought so was great to see it come to life on screen. I can't tell how I would have felt being anyone else watching this but with the main character being my actual family member, I can safely assume I felt the emotions so much stronger. Cried a lot ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿฅฒ Not to be taken as an actual accurate true story. Beautiful a lot of the ways this opens your mind, especially to God the Father being hard for those with a poor father figure. And how he's depicted to Mack as a mother. Also good how it opens your perspective to the trinity as separate beings. Wonderful story of trying to heal from something so unimaginable Explores many difficult situations. Beautiful retelling.

Really sweet and deeply beautiful film that totally captures you. It actually had me so captured that I couldn't even multitask. Totally had me; all in. Filmed beautifully, love the cinematography. Stunning landscape. LOVE the pace of the film. Warm tone (like a blanket wrapped around you as you're sat by the fire) from beginning to end. PERFECT subtle moments/ facial expressions throughout; most powerful words were unspoken. Very well done with that especially. Very skilled acting. Really nice relationship developed between the three main women. Some nudity etc, apparently it's R rated. Beautifully paralleled the Greek mythology of Orpheus & Eurydice and the main characters. Also appreciated the use of Vivaldi's Four Seasons (which was accurately composed in that era) Perfectly unperfect ending. At the end of the final scene I wanted to stand and clap. As utterly ridiculous as that sounds. That's exactly how I unashamedly felt. Phenomenally done. Brilliantly acted. Easiest 10. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Sin Nombre
2009 . Drama, Action, Thriller, Crime

This is always my go-to favourite film when people ask. I remember so clearly watching it in the cinema from Sundance and how much I adored it. I remember waiting so (im)patiently to buy it on DVD and seen SO many times since. I adore this story of a girl (Sayra) trying to cross the border into America for a better life. Showing the difficulties and dangers of the travel. How her paths often cross with this boy (Casper) caught up in gang violence, and it tells his story of the heartbreaking difficulties of life in and around gangs. Especially love because it's so easy for people to make outside judgements of illegal immigrants crossing and people in gangs. This really helps humanise and show the perspective. Beautiful portrayal. Very humanising and heart connecting โค Don't be deceived, it's so beautifully done because it is honest and real, so there are some hard scenes. May not go how you want it to but tugs on the hearts, shows insights, helps take away stereotypes.. and helps with understanding of how people get into situations, how tempting it can be to get there, how hard it is to escape, and how much people are willing to risk for a better life. Sin Nombre, my true number 1.

I ADORE this film. Always have. Always will. It's one of the films I come back to every now and then and just find it so sweet. He's grown up his whole life in a 60s underground bunker, unaware of the world above him and I LOVE how he's so sweet and innocent and experiencing all these things for the first time with such wonder and people are wondering what is wrong with him but at the same time in love with how he views the world. And how he's raised with manners, knowledge, to be a gentleman, how to dance. This film is a JOY. I love it !
