Spider-Man: Far From Home
2019 . Action, Adventure, Science Fiction

A very enjoyable movie! Fun and fresh. Nice to see a post-big event Marvel movie get back to the usual formula with success also.

The Bad Batch
2021 . Animation, Action & Adventure

image7

It’s good, it’s not great. Bad Batch is set at a space in the Star Wars universe that has a lot of potential to fill. Unfortunately it’s held back a little with some filler. I feel one season filled with story progression would be better than the multiple seasons planned.

Star Wars the High Republic: Race to Crashpoint Tower
2021 . Daniel Older

image6

Another one of the High Republic books aimed at a younger novel reader. Again, quite fun but a little flat to keep things simple and easy to follow. I enjoy the fact that the comics and books of all reading ages link up so well in this nee Star Wars era.

Jungle Cruise
2021 . Adventure, Fantasy, Comedy, Action

image8

An school adventure movie suitable for the whole family. Loads of nods to the Disneyland ride, which is great. It doesn’t bring anything new, but it is polished and very fun!

Star Wars: The Clone Wars
2008 . Animation, Action & Adventure

image9

Quite simply one of the best things to come out of the Star Wars universe… Yes there are a fair amount of dud story arches, but it goes so much deeper than the movies. Do not mistake this for a kid’s show!

Star Wars: The High Republic: Into the Dark
2021 . Claudia Gray

image7

I can’t lie… the first half of this book was a huge struggle to get through; it felt flat, slow and not very ‘Star Wars’, but just at the halfway point it completely flipped on its head and turned into a fast-paced and deep novel. I would have reviewed this much higher if the first half impressed me more.

The Midnight Library
2020 . Matt Haig

image6

I jumped on the hype train for this one… i found it to be a very okay book at best. My main issue with it is that you go into the book knowing how it’ll end, it suffers from a very obvious plot throughout really. I’m sure to the right reader this would be a very comforting story… not so much for me.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
2002 . Adventure, Fantasy, Action

image10

In my opinion the best in what is an incredible trilogy. The extended edition is a must as with the other two movies!
img
The Cat and the City
2021 . Nick Bradley

image8

A varied and enjoyable collection of intertwined stories of people in Japan, all tied together by a calico cat! A unique book that always left me wanting to see how the next story would link to the rest. A must for fans of David Mitchell.
img
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
2001 . Adventure, Fantasy, Action

image9

Still holds up today as a fantastic adaptation of a wonderful book. The extended version in particular is worthy of your time and bridges some of the gaps missing from the standard movie and the books.

Violence. Speed. Momentum.
2021 . Dr Disrespect

image4

Totally harmless fun. But more filler than content in this faux autobiography. The guy is a great entertainer, but maybe the audio book would have been a better match.

WandaVision
2021 . Action & Adventure, Comedy, Drama

image8

The most unique thing to come out of the MCU. I feel it was slightly cramped with plot developments towards the ending episodes, but otherwise it was a very enjoyable show.
img
Parasite
2019 . Comedy, Thriller, Drama

image10

Quite simply one of my favourite movies released in many years. An excellent cast backing up a fantastic plot that unravels like a classic Coen brothers movie would. A must watch.
img
Avengers: Endgame
2019 . Adventure, Science Fiction, Action

image8

Although it doesn’t quite reach the highs of ‘Infinity War’, this is still a very good movie with the typical mix of action, humour and emotion we’re now used to with MCU movies. The slight over-indulgence of filling the story and fan service is made up for with a brilliant and emotional ending.
img
Ant-Man and the Wasp
2018 . Action, Adventure, Science Fiction

image5

It’s fun, it’s got good humour. It just feels very lacklustre - especially considering in the viewing order of the MCU coming straight after Infinity War. Perfectly decent movie, but the plot and lack of scope compared to other recent MCU movies leaves a lot to be desired.
