Don't F**k with Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer
2019 . Documentary, Crime

Very depraved. animal activists are ruthless but a job well done in this case. Spoiler….. Really could have done without showing the videos, fine show the animals but showing the first half of the snuff film? That was awful and something I really would rather have never seen. I couldn’t go to sleep, with the scene replaying in my brain. Also, I find it very weird that in two instances filming had to be stopped bc the cop and baudi were getting worked up about the animal videos - but were completely fine talking about the actual human death. I will never understand people getting more worked up over animals vs humans. 😅end rant.

The Haunting of Bly Manor
2020 . Drama, Horror, Mystery

This really wasn’t good - too expository; which doesn’t leave much to the imagination and lessens suspense (“the bad man is behind you!”). The main character was so boring and had superficial development. Actually, all of it was pretty boring, including the backstory of the haunted house. I found myself rolling my eyes during many of the scenes. And really I think it’s because of how expository It was🥸

I don’t know, I just loved this show. Nick has so many one liners where I have to pause from laughing too hard. I never finished it but I do rewatch episodes from the first couple of seasons.

A movie about drunks with No character development, which I think was the point, but poorly executed.

Wow I loved this movie! It was an interesting story with really good acting. Had some funny bits throughout and overall a nicely paced film. Not too slow, not too fast.

The Brothers Karamazov
2007 . Fyodor Dostoyevsky

Wow! I feel quite accomplished having finished this lengthy novel! I really enjoy the way Dostoyevsky tells stories, especially the dialogue and the way he creates and introduces diverse characters. They are so lively and unique, it’s really fun to read and get to know all the different characters, from priests to drunks to mad men (his speciality!). I loved this book and I am sure I will read it again and get something new out of it.

This was an AWESOME brunch. You order food at the cash register, pay for it, and they bring it to you at your table. Makes for a very fast, hassle-free service. The food was very tasty too - chicken and waffles was delicious, as well as the lavender latte. However, I have worked **many** brunch shifts in the past and vowed I would never be a brunch person because of the absolute monstrosity that is brunch - i never wanted to contribute to the nightmare. I broke my rule (this was my FIRST brunch!) BUT all orders are done through the cash register, so I didn’t feel bad as the staff seemed calm 😂

$16 for a dozen oysters. A good deal for decent oysters.

I guess this is a staple in the Chattanooga area for its fried chicken sandwiches but it was underwhelming to say the least. If your restaurant is centered around your fried chicken, it better be a damn good sandwich. But it wasn’t and I could’ve eaten a better one at a fast food place that’s loaded with MSG. oh well.

A look into Timothy Tredwell who spent 13 summers camping in Alaska (where no one camps) to be close to bears. And he was close. Werner Herzog put together the footage Timothy recorded during his time there - and given that this man was all alone, for very long durations, you get some uncomfortable/cringey glimpses into the psyche. Though some may say he was mentally ill, I’m not sure. Something was off (and isn’t everyone a bit off?) — but I don’t think he was sick. I think he was an odd personality and Alaska was his refuge. It’s a good documentary and the director does an honorary job of portraying Timothys footage. His narration tells a story - he doesn’t make overt judgements - this is an important factor because then the viewers get to make their own judgements. Too often, in my opinion, documentaries tell you what to think. *leaving out more of my opinions to not spoil*

Angel of Nanjing
2015 . Documentary

Suicide rates are high in China and this documentary looks into one man’s verrry unique way of alleviating this crisis. This guy is a character and, for a serious topic, I laughed quite a bit throughout. Worth watching and only 1 hour long.

The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley

How did I not know about this?!! This was an absolutely insane story but I was left with so many more questions.... this woman was obviously connected from the beginning (which the documentary left out that her father was VP of Enron lol!) but what really fascinated me were the BIG political names behind her (e.g., war criminal Henry Kissinger!!). Did they not have a vetting process before pouring all this money into her? They just trusted her without checking third parties? Yup, these are the people who have major influence and/or role in US politics and, as seen in this doc, are easily fooled - what a joke! Joe Biden even made a cameo! 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ Giving this a 7 because the documentary was too dramatized and could have done without the animations.
