Brooklyn Nine-Nine
2013 . Comedy, Crime

image10

Season 8 (10/10): Seriously one of the best final seasons for a comedy series! The entire series pays incredible homage to the prior seven seasons while establishing plot lines to bring the series to a beautiful and heartwarming close. Couldn’t ask for anything better than this show. Entire Series (10/10): This series is seriously some of the greatest and most fun television out there. It’s absurd, hilarious, heartwarming, and even manages to address real world issues in a very real way. One of very few comedy shows that I would say is absolutely perfect, but this definitely fits the bill.

Lucifer
2016 . Crime, Drama, Sci-Fi & Fantasy

Season 5B (10/10): What can I say about this incredible half season? It’s so hard to put into words. This show is powerful emotionally. You see grief, loss, love, sacrifice, family, friends, growth, divinity, and so much more. The acting, writing, and everything else that goes into making this show have always been, and continue to be, superb in every sense of the word. It takes a lot to get me to cry, but this show has always gotten it out of me, and after watching all 8 episodes of this half season today (release day), I have to say that there are no tears left. Lucifer is such a relatable character despite the fact that he is literally the fallen angel, the ruler of Hell, Satan, the Devil, and so many other names. The supporting characters are all there for specific reasons, but are just as relatable and connectable as the titular character himself. This is one of my favorite shows in the entire world, if not my absolute favorite. If you’ve never seen it, do yourself a favor: start this show, work through any confusion, and enjoy the ride. Season 6 (10/10): This final season was brilliant. It not only pays homage to the previous five seasons, but it reinvents the show so the content is fresh while still building upon the world established. So much character attention this season, and we get to see outcomes for everyone we have come to love over the years. Entire Series (10/10): I don’t know how to put into words how perfect this series is. I truly think this is my favorite show of all time with some of my most favorite characters ever. Everything behind-the-scenes got messy between seasons 3 and 4, but Netflix brought this back to be what it was always meant to be. Would I love to see more of this show? Yes. But am I happy the writers ended this on their own terms and in a way that leaves me and the other viewers satisfied? Absolutely.

Monsters at Work
2021 . Animation, Action & Adventure, Comedy

image10

Season 1 (10/10): I don’t know how I can say much about this season, but I’m going to try. This show doesn’t simply continue the story of Monsters Inc. following the turn from Scare power to Laugh power; it follows a young man who was offered the job of a Scarer, is forced to work with MIFT (a team that nobody wants to work with), and works hard to become a Jokester. However, this young man known as Tylor works alongside the MIFT team which becomes a family to him (and me quite honestly). There are so many awesome, touching, funny, crazy moments throughout this first season, but if you have any love for the Monsters Inc. universe, this is essential to heighten that love. Truly incredible first season and I’m hoping we get plenty more to come!

Superman & Lois
2021 . Action & Adventure, Drama

image10

Season 1 (10/10): This show is not only my favorite comic book show, but might be one of my favorite shows of all time. Yes, this is about Superman, aliens, and science fiction. However, there is so much inclusion of family, mental health, and real world issues that ground it to our humanity. The cast of this show is truly some of the greatest I’ve ever seen; villains were evil, heroes were heroic, and those defined as neither felt very realistic. This series pays so much homage to the comics and truly what could we ask for that’s better than that? I also have to mention that the score throughout this entire series so far has been absolutely brilliant; it always accompanies the show and never overstays its welcome. I’m so freaking pumped for the second season of Superman & Lois!!

Star Wars: The Clone Wars
2008 . Animation, Action & Adventure

image10

Entire Series (10/10): This was about the fifth time I watched through the entire series, but this rewatch was alongside my brother (his first watch), and man was it a blast! It took us roughly 8 months, but we enjoyed every second of the show and he was so invested that he often asked questions for clarification and to better understand the galaxy far, far away. Loved this a lot and I cannot wait to watch more Star Wars with him soon!

The Bad Batch
2021 . Animation, Action & Adventure

image10

Season 1 (10/10): One of the best first seasons of a show I’ve ever experienced! The show starts off on a note that gets you extremely attached to all of the characters, especially the newest character introduced in Star Wars: Omega. Extremely complicated political situations are addressed in the time frame from the end of the Clone Wars to the rise of the Empire. Awesome cameos throughout the season, and I’m so excited for season 2 in 2022!!

All Rise
2019 . Drama

image10

Season 2 (10/10): Such an amazing season all around relating to the current political and social climate within the United States from Black Lives Matter, corrupt politicians, and even the Covid-19 pandemic. All around, this season was brilliant and constantly showcased the good portions of humanity that we all wish to see more of. Entire Series (10/10): Seriously one of the best courtroom dramas (based in the United States) that I’ve ever seen. You can tell that true heart was put into this from the writing to the acting, and even to the things often overlooked in TV shows such as the score and cinematography. Absolutely brilliant all around! I’m so incredibly sad to watch this wonderful show end, but I’ve enjoyed both seasons. Who knows, maybe a streaming service will #SaveAllRise

S.W.A.T.
2017 . Action & Adventure, Crime

image10

Season 4 (10/10): This show has never failed to showcase real world issues inside of its plot. This season was no exception as it showcased white supremacy, racist police officers, re-entry of those incarcerated into the world, and more all while recognizing real people such as Breona Taylor and George Floyd and real groups such as Black Lives Matter. But this show tries to show different elements of the spectrum in very unique ways: a high ranking black man as a SWAT team leader, an older white man encountering racism and struggling to do the right thing, and even ordinary citizens as they try to understand the cops of their neighborhoods (mainly LAPD SWAT of course).

NCIS
2003 . Action & Adventure, Crime, Drama

image10

Season 18 (10/10): Have I sat and watched all eighteen seasons of this amazing show over the years? Yes, absolutely yes. But what made this season special? So much. Gibbs gets into a situation that not only impacts him, but his team, and friends outside of NCIS. Fan favorite characters return (Phineas, Ducky, and more) and new characters are introduced (Agent Jessica Knight; played by Katrina Law). The stories are so complex and interwoven. We see grief, loss, friendship, found families, hidden gems, purpose and so many more emotions. This season is brilliant, and I cannot wait for #NCISSeason19 (especially after the two massive cliffhangers from this season).

Prodigal Son
2019 . Crime, Drama, Mystery

image10

Season 2 (10/10): This show has blown me away for the past two years. The intense focus on the inner-workings of serial killers alongside those who were close to them has been very interesting to explore in a crime show such as this. This season did so much to expand upon stories and emotions presented in the first season. All around, this was brilliant and constantly shocking. The ending to this season felt so rushed and there is so much story left to tell. I really hope that another network or streaming service decides to #SaveProdigalSon (Netflix already did this when Fox cancelled another fan favorite series in Lucifer).

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
2021 . Action & Adventure, Drama

image10

Well this series has ended. As of now, it’s delegated as a limited series, but I have a strange feeling it’ll return with at least one more season. How absolutely incredible. This series has managed to do something truly outstanding and bring in so much lore from Marvel Comics in regards to Falcon, Winter Soldier, Captain America, and so many more. SPOILERS: You have been warned. The following are names I never expected to see in the MCU so soon: John Walker/US Agent, Isaiah Bradley, Madam Hydra, Battlestar, and even Power Broker. All of these characters are phenomenal additions to the MCU. In each of their own unique ways, they’ve impacted the world. Sam Wilson donning the Captain America mantle was truly incredible. I jumped out of my seat in pure excitement because I’ve hoped to see him take up the shield for years now. Bucky Barnes and his growing comfort thanks to his new family and community is so wonderful to see, and it shows the world that mental health is always important to focus on. Isaiah Bradley will be remembered as a hero. The way he always should have been. John Walker. Although he did many terrible things and made many bad decisions, he still chose to do the right thing in the end. I hope that Madam Hydra doesn’t corrupt him and steer him back towards the bad road as he dons the mantle of the US Agent. And finally, the Power Broker. Sharon Carter. I fully expected the reveal (as I know many others did as well). However, I didn’t expect a pardon from the US government on her behalf. It’ll be very interesting to see Agent 13 become a villain in the future of the MCU.

Manhunt
2017 . Biography, Crime, Drama

image10

Season 2-Manhunt: Deadly Games (10/10): This limited series is the first in quite some time that has gripped me from the start and I’ve binged in a short time. I started watching this on Netflix yesterday and finished it today and I have to say that I absolutely loved the entirety of this because there was never a dull moment. The cast is absolutely incredible and shows off life in its truest and purest forms. Spoilers: The story of Richard Jewell is a tragic one. A hero who was wrongly accused of the 1996 Olympic Bombing (Centbom). He and his mother were wrongly tried by the media and the FBI without proper facts. Jack Brennan was an FBI agent who risked his entire career and future to speak to the media regarding his own failures as well as the FBI’s. His story is another tragedy caused by the true bomber: Eric Rudolph. Eric Rudolph’s story is one of madness. He killed and injured countless people over his years as a serial bomber just for the simple fact of enjoying it. He was caught by a local officer after living in the woods for years and dumpster diving behind a Taco Bell.

WandaVision
2021 . Action & Adventure, Comedy, Drama

image10

This limited series is single handedly one of the greatest things Marvel has put out. Spoilers: The complexities and character development for both Wanda and Vision as well as their children Billy and Tommy was done so incredibly well and I truly felt the comics coming to life on screen. Monica’s character does some great things and was developed a lot in this series as a springboard to her future in the MCU (most likely Captain Marvel 2). Agatha is used extremely well and a back door is left for her to return in the future of the MCU. The introduction of White Vision was something that I never expected Marvel to do with this show. I thought it was too obscure of a character from the comics to bring to life, but they did it, and they did it spectacularly. And one final note. Jimmy Woo needs his own show. Please. Wonderful man played by a great actor who deserves more prominence in the MCU, hopefully in a capacity similar to Phil Coulson or even Nick Fury.

Prop Culture
2020 . Documentary

image9

Entire Series (9/10): I’ve enjoyed getting to see so many props from iconic Disney films and see my love of films shared alongside those within the production of them. If you even have the slightest interest in films, give this a watch! The films featured throughout this series are: Mary Poppins (1964) Tron (1982) The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) Pirates of the Caribbean (2003) Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989) The Chronicles of Narnia (2005) Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) The Muppet Movie (1979)

Batwoman
2019 . Action & Adventure, Crime

image9

Season 2 (9/10): There is no doubt in my mind that this second season was way stronger than the first. Largely, I think that’s a result of Ruby Rose leaving the show (her acting is straight trash, sorry, not sorry). The new Batwoman does so much in a short time to become worthy of the legacy left by Kate Kane and works to preserve the people that she cares about. Throughout this season, we had iconic villains such as Safiyah, Black Mask, and the return of Alice. But there were also nods to iconic Batman villains; Joker, Bane, Poison Ivy, Clayface, Mad Hatter, Penguin, and so many more. I hope that sometime soon, we see some of these popular villains return to Gotham and go toe to toe with Batwoman and potentially draw Batman out of hiding and back to Gotham.
