I started watching this documentary-series a few days ago and it took me a few days to get through it. I had already known a lot about the Lam case at the Hotel Cecil because cases like this have always interested me. I thought overall this was an okay documentary, but I was disappointed in some aspects and I thought it could have been better. Also how tf did she get up to the roof by herself because that fire escape ladder was thin and I would never climb that thing. Positives: - I really liked how this was about Lam mainly, but they also touched on how this is not the first time a crime this big has happened. All of this bad energy and terrible crimes that occur here is insane including r*pe, murder, drug trafficking, etc. - Learning more about downtown LA and Skid row was very interesting to me, and I definitely found out more about Lam throughout this documentary-series including having a strange personality and bipolar disorder and being heavy on Tumblr. She had strange outbursts and left letters to guests which is something I did not know and creeped me tf out. - All of the theories are fascinating and the fact that know one knows entirely still is insane. I think the top suspect was that heavy metal musician, but I am unsure that I suspect him personally. Negatives: - So long for what? - Some of the questions that could have be answered were not, and I just don't know why. Give more details about that night she went missing like where were the employees, and why aren't they speaking up. - All of the re-dramatizations of Elisa writing on Tumblr was too much for me, and I feel like some of them were not needed. - They didn't bring in the supernatural element of the Cecil as much as I had hoped because that is a huge part of the backstory for the hotel. Overall: 3 out of 5 Stars

This started off really good then turned into a YouTube jerk fest of people who became obsessed with this case and used YouTube as a platform for conspiracies surrounding this case. Can’t believe Netflix released this.

I wish they would focus a lot more on the actual history of this hotel like American Horror Story Hotel did. But this was all about one girl when in fact so much more happened there.

Overly long, dumb Web sleuths and a mystery for anyone who enjoys a looked room puzzle that wasn't that much of a mystery.

A sad story poorly told, Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel buries the heart of its tragic case under unsavory conspiracy theories and tasteless reenactments.

I've seen much better from Netflix! Wasn't impressed with this show. It was really long and at the end there was not a definitive answer to the crime. Would not recommend.

I think this was very well made and the whole Elisa Lam case is just so creepy.. I’ve seen the elevator clips and heard the story many times before, so that wasn’t a big shock for me. But I didn’t know of all the crazy coincidences that they presented, that really blew my mind 🤯 I really like how you hear the story from people who was there at the time, guests and employees. It’s a case where you on one hand feel like it’s so obvious what happened and on the other hand it doesn’t make sense at all! Worth a watch if you like true crime, and also worth looking up reviews of the hotel afterwards - it’s a creepy place!

Worth a watch. Could have been shorter without the repeated recaps throughout. Probably could have lost a whole episode.

I remember hearing about this on the news so it was so interesting to see what happened. So odd seeing this girl, the same age as me, living in the same place as me and suddenly mysteriously disappeared. Interesting watch. Right length, couldn't have been any longer. Not the best of these netflix docs lately but glad I watched it

A sad tale of the mysterious death of a female Canadian tourist at the infamous Cecil hotel in downtown LA & how so called internet wanna be sleuths really loose the plot to create a fiction greater than reality.

if you want a full run-down on what happened to elisa lam then look no further. by the end everything is explained. you also get some interesting history about the hotel and the area she was in when she died. as well as some info that has been buried by the internet accidentally as the case became sensationalized

Interesting - a bit dragged out and slightly over hyped.
