I am completely blown away by Gervais. After Life is an insightful and incredibly realistic presentation of grief. There’s no way the viewer can avoid coming away with much needed empathy for those who have lost a spouse to premature death. But wait! It is also the F-ing funniest show I’ve seen second only to Ted Lasso and The Office. I will never get tired of hearing Ricky say ‘C$nt’. He deserves Emmys for acting, writing and directing for this program. The only reason I couldn’t give it a ‘10’ is because of the completely torturous scenes with the psychotherapist. Being one myself, I wanted to puke every time he spoke. Thank you for this work of art, Ricky.

Ricky Gervais at his best AGAIN! I laughed, cried and felt all kinds of emotions. Quick 20 minute episodes nicely packed with good stories and characters.

A great balance of humour vs sadness which ends up making you (the viewer) an emotional wreck. Have some tissues at the ready.

I really enjoyed this overall, especially the dramatic and more serious scenes. The chats he has with the woman in the cemetery are the best. In terms of humor, some parts are hilarious but I was surprised that it wasn't as funny as I expected? I love Gervais's humor generally. Maybe it was my dislike of half his coworkers, ha. Too real at times, in a good way. The only time watching a show that I've felt active envy for a relationship. I hope to find someone who loves me as much and who I can have as much fun with. There's such a feeling of authenticity with them. It's both beautiful and painful to watch.

I don't often find shows or movies that make me feel emotional, in highs or lows. This show singlehandedly made me feel the entire spectrum of emotions and helped me heal in ways I didn't think I could. It may hurt at times, but the healing it provided overall over time helped more.

Would definitely consider this a dark comedy but it's definitely something I loved! If you need a bit of a laugh then it's recommended but it also can be quite heavy at times. Overall a great series!
