I've been such a huge fan of the Flanaverse up until now but sadly this show just didn't hit the mark. I loved the concept, the setting and the characters. I was moved by their daily lives and friendships and felt that was where the show was at its strongest. What didn't work for me were the lengthy stories the group told each other or the supernatural elements that tried to spice up the plot and failed. I hoped that it was all slowly building towards something amazing, like the other Flanagan shows I've loved. But it didn't.

I liked the overall concept but it was executed poorly in terms of not being scary and the being boring.

The real horror is how this show depicts the protagonist naive journey into being recruited by a cult, and the writers decided instead to provide red herrings in forms of cheap supernatural mysteries, all of which look amateurish and bad. Most of the stories are poorly structured as they are meant to be written by kids, but as viewers there’s little to appreciate about them, all except for Natsuki’s. Overall a very mediocre show that’s trying to ride on the coattail of the first series in this universe.
